After recently travelling to Kuwait, I've put together a blog post on some of the things I got up to with my family including the restaurants we visited and the amazing spa I went to with my mum. Welcome to my Kuwait travel diary 2018.

One of the best things about Kuwait, if not the best thing (lol) is the halal fast food. McDonald's, Burger King, KFC... there's just way too many food options to choose from! Whenever I go to Kuwait or Dubai, my brothers and I (mainly my brothers) indulge in the fast food. Although Kuwait has Talabat, a food delivery service just like Deliveroo and Uber Eats, it is nice to go to a restaurant too. On our recent trip to Kuwait, we tried a variety of different restaurants - here are some of our favourites:

Mais Alghanim is known for their delicious, homemade-style Lebanese cuisine.

For starters we had tabbouleh, hummus and freshly baked bread, and for the main course, we ordered lamb shank biryani (my favourite!) and a mixed grill. We don't usually go for dessert but my mum insisted on trying this trending pudding. I'm not completely sure on the name, however, it is a set milk pudding with fairy floss (candy floss) topped with rose petals, pistachios and scrumptious jewel like pomegranate seeds.

The food was very tasty and we all enjoyed it! Definitely a restaurant we will be visiting again!

We mainly go to Bouchon Bakery for their incredible macarons but this time, when we were in the mall, deciding where to go for lunch, we stumbled upon Bouchon Bakery. They had some of their lunch specials on display which included pastas, salads and soups and I just couldn't resist trying their penne pasta with shrimp! We also ordered the penne pasta with grilled chicken and soup. The food was delicious and again, a place I'll be visiting more.

The other time we went, we decided to have coffee, macarons (again, another favourite dessert of mine!) and almond semolina fanciers. Their macarons are amazing and so were the almond semolina fanciers! I decided to go for one large vanilla macaron and we also got their mini macarons in flavours raspberry, vanilla and pistachio. My mum went for a latte while my brother and I went for the iced latte. Everything was very enjoyable and we even went back to get some macarons for takeaway!

When we got seated, I was wondering where to put my handbag, usually I'll put it on my chair but, the lady came over with this magnetic bag holder (which I never knew existed!) that attaches to the table. It was so cool and a very clever idea that made me feel very boujee lol! (picture below.) Can I also mention how very instagrammable this cafe is? With its marble tables, pastel colours, pretty cutlery and well presented (and tasty) food! I just love it!

We originally planned to go to The Cheesecake Factory for both food and cheesecake but we ended up just going for the food since we were so stuffed from the main we couldn't fit in any dessert lol! And, they are very generous with their portion sizes, I ended up sharing with my mum. My mum and I ordered the Louisiana Chicken Pasta. It was super tasty and we also got some more parmesan grated on top. I'd also recommend sharing with someone if you don't think you'll finish it on your own (it also depends on what the dish is and the size) and I also think you can go for either dessert or food, not both as you'll find yourself trying to fit dessert in and it won't be as enjoyable as you'll be too stuffed from the delicious food!

dipndip is dessert restaurant mainly known for their signature way of pouring their Belgium chocolate. We usually go for their profiterole pyramid that tastes heavenly! We even went as far as ordering it on Talabat for a midnight dessert! I'd highly recommend you check out Dip&Dip if you haven't already!

I believe that self care and pampering yourself is very important which is why my mum and I decided to go to Herbal Spa. I'd highly recommend checking out Herbal Spa! They did such a great job with our manicures and pedicures. The location we went to is an all ladies spa and I think they do have locations for just men too but I'm not completely sure. We both had manicures and pedicures. Sadly, they don't cut hair so I decided to try their hair masks instead. They had different hair masks to choose from but I decided to go for the avocado hair mask.

She applied it all over my hair and then left it in while she did my manicure and pedicure. After, when she had finished my mani and pedi, she washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner to remove the hair mask. Once she was done washing it, she blow dried my hair. My hair felt so good! It was soft, silky, healthy and my hair felt quite light (even though she didn't cut it.)

The manicure and pedicure was so lovely! They soak your hands and feet, exfoliate, file your nails, cut them if you would like too and cut your cuticles. You can also choose to get your nails painted. They also applied these hand and feet hydrating gloves. They apply the gloves to your hands and feet and leave it on for a couple of minutes which helps add moisture to your skin. You also get served tea or coffee and some fruit and cold water (picture below.)

Overall, the spa was amazing and super relaxing! Highly recommend!

There isn't a lot of things to do in Kuwait, mainly just going out to eat and going to malls. But, the other things we did included going to the beach (we didn't stay too long as we went during the day and its quite hot. I'd recommend going in the early morning, when it isn't.) We also went to the cinema to watch the Equalizer 2 and we visited the Kuwait Towers. Which look like big, round sparkling balls of light. We went at sunset and got some great pictures!

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post, I did add some pictures to my Instagram story (@aleishawritess) that are now saved to my Kuwait highlights if you fancy having a look at.

Enjoy your weekend,

Lots of love,

Aleisha xx
