This post was actually supposed to go up ages ago, but better late than never, right? I've wanted to do a post about calligraphy, something different than what I've posted before. I started calligraphy around last year after being inspired by my older brother's work and many Instagram pictures and calligraphy tutorials - they're are beyond satisfying and mesmerising to watch!
So, for those of you who are creative and want to try your hands at calligraphy or want to improve your calligraphy, keep on reading.

I thought I would ask my older brother Dawood, who's an artist and designer (and more experienced in calligraphy) to help me on this post and give you guys some tips and advice. To see more of Dawood's work, check out his Instagram - @pathandesign.

DAWOODS TIPS ON CALLIGRAPHY FOR BEGINNERS:
1. Practice - Nothing happens overnight! Practice helps improve your consistency with letter forms, muscle memory and pressure when using pens/tools.
2. Guidelines - Use guidelines to keep your letter forms neat and tidy. There are many free guideline sheets available to download online.
3. Patience - It takes time to perfect your craft. Be patient learning how to create letter forms. Think about the wrist and arm movements needed to move the pen to construct a letter.
4. Inspiration - If you're struggling with a certain style or letter, check out accounts like @calligraphymasters for great examples by talented calligraphers. Don't be ashamed to learn from others!
5. Take a break - No matter how passionate, determined and motivated you are, take a few regular breaks to relax and stretch your hand muscles.
RECOMMENED CALLIGRAPHY PENS:
